Banks to porn stars: Your money's not welcome
Fri May 17, 2013
Transactions with organized crime groups are okay, but PORN? No, sir.
How to tell if the IRS is eyeing you
Fri May 17, 2013
SallyAnn, the problem is that you need an accountant to do your taxes. If the tax code were simple and not a game that panders to certain people on different pages then you could do your own taxes no problem.
'Pink stinks': Protests greet Berlin's Barbie Dreamhouse
Thu May 16, 2013
I think part of the issue is having a public attraction that reinforces a stereotype. Of course girls are free to choose what they want to do and like in life, but having a public attraction that every girl in the area would see seems to be going too far. I wouldn't want a public attraction to reinf …
5 questions for Michael Tanner -- a policy expert who says we've made poverty too 'comfortable'
Thu May 16, 2013
What if the problem is not just that people don't want to learn how to fish, but that there aren't enough fish? At some point there are more people than worthwhile jobs to give to them. I think the USA has passed that point.
Apple, other phone makers need to make phones harder to steal, says NY lawman
Mon May 13, 2013
Much of the advice in this article talks about protecting a device AFTER it is stolen. If the theives were after data that would be useful advice, but I think the theives just want to steal the device. The only way to prevent that is to keep devices hidden when in the public. Unfortunately we live i …
Sex offender briefly accused of killing kidnap victim wants Cleveland apology
Tue May 7, 2013
Yes, it seems that he is a reprehensible individual, but the police should not be able to tear apart someone's property and plaster their face on the news for a public lynch mob just because of some random tip. If the tipster cannot provide more than a "hunch" then their tip should be taken lightly. …
Caribbean politician shot dead while drinking beer on beach
Mon May 6, 2013
jerryb-1604912 Didn't his momma tell him not to drink beer on the beach? Sometimes it's hard to understand the choice of word in a news article caption. Was the part about drinking beer supposed to generate a negative opinion of him? Why not just "Caribbean politician shot dead"?
J.C. Penney tries to woo customers back with an apology
Wed May 1, 2013
I is sad when a company is apologizing for adopting a straightforward business model. JCP tried to respect customers by dropping the advertising scemes and was quickly rebuked for doing so. I personally enjoyed their new business model.
Alan Alda wants scientists to cut out the jargon
Wed May 1, 2013
Jargon should definitely be limited to communication among experts. Simplifying the language does not have to be the same as "dumbing it down". Of course, it is also up to the public to ask questions. When in the presence of a professional I always ask about what is going on. I don't want to have to …
Parents: Police removed our child after we sought second medical opinion
Wed May 1, 2013
Glad I am not the only one on the side of the parents with this issue. The hospital, Child Services, and the police should not have the power to do this. The parents were acting responsibly when they desired a second opinion from another facility.
